OVERVIEW Philadelphia features some of the most complex fantasy basketball scenarios this season due to extreme top-end usage and uncertain roles behind the stars. I lay out the cases for Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, and others, tackling where their current fantasy prices don't match the likely outcome, and highlight why some are outright fades. KEY TAKEAWAYS Tyrese Maxey is a risky pick at his current ADP (8 on Yahoo and ESPN), as nearly every statistical category last year trended toward his ceiling and regression is likely even without the new arrivals. I barely justify him at 11 and can't touch him top 15 in points leagues. Joel Embiid is a hard avoid for me inside the top 50, regardless of per-game upside, because of extensive injury history with repeat meniscus surgeries. I won't pair him with other high-risk health guys like Anthony Davis or Kawhi Leonard. Jaylen Brown is undervalued by standard category league rankings but makes sense in round 3 or 4 in points leagues, especially if the minutes jump under Nick Nurse offsets some usage loss. Anywhere in the 50s is great; avoid if he goes top 20. LeBron James is sliding a bit too far in drafts—I'm okay with him in the 40s in points leagues and 50s in category leagues, even projecting usage and scoring dips. His assist rate should rise and he remains a uniquely productive fantasy asset if he plays. VJ Edgecombe should not be chased at last year's 60s or 70s prices, as increased competition for usage and minutes mean only a significant injury pile-up pushes him past the No. 3 or 4 option in the rotation. Late stash or deep league play only. The Sixers bench does not offer easy handcuffs: Anthony Simons needs nearly all starters to be absent to matter, and backup big men Adem Bona and Dom Barlow are both injured. Jabari Walker's name is worth monitoring if big men remain unavailable. The Sixers are healthy now, but injury histories of their stars mean rotational chaos is possible. However, the scenario where Edgecombe or any bench piece truly breaks out is still a deep-league or desperation play.
